Raw Sonar Data

Raw sonar data from the output of a logarithmic amplifier and analog to digital converter running with a sample rate of 1 sample per 40 microseconds. Note the steady ping pulse on the front of this wave form and the transducer ring immediately following. The log amp doesn't linearly compensate for the spherical propagation and adsorption losses. For the first 50 feet down there is a jumble of echoes from surface clutter, bubbles and particles, in the water. At about 80 feet the bottom return is quite strong saturating the analog front end. This signal is also degraded by DC fluctuations and high frequency noise.
